“Professional and Trustworthy”
We knew we were going to need a builder who would be flexible and would work with us rather than just for us. Our project was to modernise and totally remodel a late 1930’s detached house that had been extended (as it turns out, very badly) several times by previous owners.
Richard came and looked around and listened to our ideas and plans, and was very supportive and seemed genuinely interested to be involved in the project, not just turn up and do a day’s work as instructed.
The project involved knocking down many internal walls, installing new supporting steelwork and re-skinning a large part of the existing extensions with matching bricks laid in a pattern to match seamlessly with the existing house.
As we got going on the project we started to uncover all sorts of issues and in every case Richard was calm and provided practical suggestions and alternatives to overcome the issues but still focusing on what we wanted to achieve.
Richards positive and “everything can be fixed” attitude really made the whole project a very enjoyable experience.

Having used Richard previously it was a very easy decision for me to use them again for my recent garage conversion. Being a little unsure on I wanted with the conversation I was really appreciative of the upfront help and advise Lee gave which then continued throughout the job. Once the spec was agreed I was sent a quote which was very clear and outlined everything that was included which was very competitive. Having agreed a start date Lee and the team arrived bright and early and I was really impressed with how efficient they were and the speed of which the work was carried out which was completed well within the time frame given. Throughout the job Lee gave me regular updates on what was happening and was very accommodating when I asked for some slight changes and some extra additions. Whilst building work can be quite a messy job I was really impressed by was how clean and tidy everything was kept and never had to worry about neighbours complaining. Overall I felt that we got a 5-star service and I'm extremely satisfied with the conversion and indeed whole experience. If asked I would highly recommend L & R Building Contractors and would not hesitate to use them again.
